Today is national Bike to Work Day. I rode and I hope anyone reading this blog also rode to work today. Here in Colorado, the weather is hot and sunny -- a good day to ride.

As if The Horse article was not enough, Chopper Build published a small article and picture of my Norton chop in their August issue. It shows a picture of my son Ian on the bike from a year ago spring. I submitted this info via their website so time ago. So it was a surprise when I turned the page and saw Ian and the bike in front of me.

Over a year ago, I submitted an article to The Horse on our bike trip to Rajasthan. Never heard a word back from them. No acknowledgment, zip, nada, nothing. Imagine my surprise yesterday when I opened the August issue and saw my article printed "in living color." Over the years, I've subscribed to several different bike mags, but hands down, The Horse is my favorite. So it's great that they published my article. My "professional" bio is posted under About Blue Poppy, Authors, Bob Flaws at www.bluepoppy.com. As for my biking bio, my current daily rider is a 2001 Indian Mohave Scout. Prior to building the current Norton rigid, I 've chopped a Kawasaki 750 Vulcan which my son owned. I also own another Norton Commando (1971) basket case which I plan on making into a bobber. Iam an inaugural member of the Iron Indian Riders Assoc. of which I was also a past Tribal Council Member and President. In addition, I'm a member of Colorado Abate (District 13), the AMA, MRF, Norton Colorado, and C.O.B.B. As a young man, I was a jeweler in NYC, and I still do some occasional jewelry-making. However, this love of/intertest in jewelry-making has carried over into knife-making, metal scultping, and bike-building. I guess that's about it.
